Lisa Braden-Harder – CEO, Appen Butler Hill
Lisa is a seasoned entrepreneur experienced in accelerating technology to global markets with over 25+ years of experience in technologies with cultural and linguistic components starting with grammar checkers and Machine Translation and more recently Search and Speech technologies. After an early career in applied research including an IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Award, an IBM Research Division Award and four patents, she founded the Butler Hill Group in 1993 to provide linguistic consulting services to technology companies expanding globally and managed the company during significant growth. After the company merged with Appen in 2011, she became the President of North America to lead strategic planning of new offerings and oversee the community related offerings in social media, crowdsouring and search technologies. She is an avid New Englander enjoying small towns with four seasons.
Paul Remer – Senior Vice President, Social Instinct Division
Paul is an entrepreneurial executive with over 25 years’ experience in management and international business development. Before co-founding Wikman Remer with Johan Wikman, Paul was CEO of Keibi, an automated content moderation solution that was ultimately bought by Lithium Technologies. Paul worked at teen social network Piczo as interim CEO, VP of Business Development, and General Counsel. At Piczo, Paul became immersed in the UGC phenomenon and became familiar with the needs of the participants in the social media and advertising ecosystems. Before Piczo, Paul was a founder and CEO of Siterra Corporation, a Saas-model enterprise software company. A graduate of The University of Santa Clara Law School, Paul retains his membership in the California Bar. When he’s not doing entrepreneurial stuff, Paul plays a bunch of instruments, hikes the Marin hills and occasionally straps on the cross-country skis.
Johan Wikman – Chief Technology Officer, Social Instinct Division
After spending more than 10 years as a software engineer at Autodesk, Johan embarked on a series of successful entrepreneurial ventures. Taking on increasing responsibility at each company, Johan has built complete engineering teams from scratch and transformed existing teams into productive, agile development groups. Most recently, Johan was responsible for transforming and managing one of Zynga’s game development groups. Before Zynga, Johan served as Keibi’s VP of Engineering, responsible for building a team that combined local and off-shore (China) resources, and managing Keibi’s large, multi-tenant hosted solution.
Keith Crowell – Vice President Social Media, Social Instinct Division
Over the last 14 years Keith has worn many hats in the tech industry. He has launched and managed Community Management teams for Social Networks and Social Gaming companies, he has built best-in-class customer service organizations for the likes of Apple Computer and Earthlink, and is an industry leader with Internet Safety Organizations in the United States and Europe.
Keith brings a deep understanding of Community and the positive effects it can have on customer acquisition, retention, and revenue generation. He has a true passion for building these types of successful programs in companies in varying industries.
Daphne Guericke- Vice President, Content Analytics, Social Instinct Division
Daphne has over 20 years of experience in the field of natural language technologies, including 15 years at Microsoft. During her time at Microsoft, she managed numerous multilingual projects and teams, with focus areas as diverse as localization/globalization, handwriting recognition, natural language processing and integration of natural language components into broader software suites. Daphne joined the company in 2008 and was instrumental in launching and growing the company’s Content Analytics division. With deep understanding of the issues that lie at the intersection of language and technology, she leads her team to partner closely with technology providers to develop and extend sophisticated natural language solutions that structure information to gain insights out of unstructured text in any language.
Daphne maintains her balance through yoga, sailing and anything outdoors with her family and friends.
Michael Lapinskas – Sr. Director of Platform Engineering, Social Instinct Division
Mike is a computer technologist with a passion for solving real-world problems. He has applied his midwestern values at SF Bay Area icons Autodesk, Pixar and Lockheed over a 30 year career. With a broad base of experience in enterprise level IT architecture solutions, project management office (PMO), business process management (BPM), and application development, Mike brings the “big picture” to integrated problem solving at Social Instinct.
Keeping him rooted are his loving family and right-brained activities of ice/roller hockey, snow skiing, road riding, electric guitar and fixing cars.
Kevin Vondemkamp – Director of Business Development
Kevin has successfully sold employee-related solutions to companies of all sizes in virtually all vertical markets, including high-tech (AT&T, Symantec, Qualcomm, Microsoft), Healthcare (McKesson, Pacific Health, Kaiser Permanente) and Finance (Alliance, HBK, QBC Insurance).
When Kevin is not selling stuff, he can be found palling around with his son, Noah and training his performance (reining) horses Rosalita and Isabella.
